Pecha Kucha
Last week I attended my first Pecha Kucha Night at Seattle gallery, Ouch My Eye. It was engaging, inspiring, a really good time. I'm hooked. The topic was Art vs. Science. Pecha Kucha (pronounced pe-CHA ku-CHA) began in Tokyo in 2003 and now happens roughly every month in cities around the globe. The format: each presenter gets to show and discuss 20 images, 20 seconds on each image. There were 12 or 13 artists, architects, scientists, a costumer and others offering their take on the theme as each presented a unique vision. An amazingly diverse range of content and concepts. A gutsy bunch. Next month's topic is Craigslist. I'm thinking a sort of condensed version of This American Life vignettes. Creativity and big laughs for sure.
