burn out

I was in need of a quick business sign for Spool + Sparrow to use this past weekend. I considered a large canvas banner but you can't always count on a place to hang it. Thus, I went with the more exciting wood burned option. I think it was at Camp Orkila on Orcas Island at around age 11 or 12 that I last used a wood burning tool. No idea what I made back then.

I made a small (easily portable) sign on poplar to hang from a length of sisal. I'm pleased with the end result. It was perfect to hang on the end of my garment rack. Here it is in the back yard.

  1. So sweet! Did you start with a stencil or a rubbing of your letters? I'm using your canvas sign tutorial for our market stall sign. I love this one, too. Thanks so much!
